The SR-8000 is the premium model in Silver Star's garment steamer range. It keeps the proven 1350W steam system of the SR-5000 but adds a significantly faster 800W pre-heat element, a more refined aesthetic, and a built-in hanger attachment for hands-free steaming.
Designed for front-of-house retail environments and professional settings where both performance and appearance matter, the SR-8000 delivers the same class-leading steam output as the SR-5000 while dramatically cutting the wait between switching on and being ready to steam. The sleek blue finish and integrated garment hanger arm make it at home on a showroom floor as much as in a production laundry.
Universe Corp is the authorised distributor for Silver Star garment care equipment in South Africa, providing local stock, technical support, and spare parts.
Ready to steam in a fraction of the time compared to the SR-5000’s 200W element. Critical for busy retail sample rooms and customer-facing environments where downtime costs money.

Questions
Answers before you enquire
- What is the difference between the SR-5000 and SR-8000?
- Both models share the same 1350W steam output. The SR-8000 adds a much faster 800W pre-heat element (vs 200W on the SR-5000), a built-in garment hanger arm for hands-free steaming, a water shortage alarm, and a more refined premium blue finish. The SR-8000 is the better choice for front-of-house retail and appearance-sensitive environments; the SR-5000 suits higher-volume back-of-house use.
- How much faster is the SR-8000’s pre-heat compared to the SR-5000?
- The SR-8000’s 800W pre-heat element is four times the power of the SR-5000’s 200W element, bringing the unit to operating temperature significantly faster - critical in busy retail environments where the machine may be switched on and off throughout the day.
- Is the SR-8000 suitable for delicate fabrics?
- Yes. Because steaming applies no direct soleplate pressure, the SR-8000 is safe for silk, velvet, chiffon, embellished garments, and other fabrics that should not be ironed. It is gentler than a traditional iron while still effectively removing wrinkles and refreshing fabric.
- Does it work on 220V South African power?
- Yes. The SR-8000 is dual-voltage (120V / 220V) and is fully compatible with South Africa’s 220V supply. Units supplied by Universe Corp are configured for local use.
- Are spare parts and servicing available in South Africa?
- Yes. Universe Corp stocks Silver Star spare parts locally in South Africa, ensuring faster turnaround on repairs. Contact our team with your model and serial number for parts availability and pricing.
- Can the SR-8000 be used on curtains?
- Yes. Steam reaches the fabric without soleplate contact, as on a hanging garment, and the 1 350 W steam is continuous, so a full-length panel can be worked top to bottom without waiting for pressure to recover. The 800 W pre-heat suits housekeeping teams that switch the machine on room by room.
