A dry cleaner's answer to buying supplies
Cleaner's Supply was started by Jeff Schapiro, a dry cleaner in upstate New York, out of the basement of his own shop. His account of why is unusually plain: deliveries were inconsistent, stock was unreliable, prices moved without warning and none of them were published. He began selling direct on the opposite terms, and the company still sells that way, holding around 28 000 lines across two coasts.
Cleaner's Supply makes the consumables a dry cleaning counter gets through without noticing, until the morning it runs out. Numbered tags for intake, strip books for a counter that hands the customer a stub, hanger tags that go home in a wardrobe, receipt rolls, invoices, and the heat seal labels that let a uniform be tracked across a year of cleaning.
Unicorp supplies the range in South Africa. Where the machines on this site are bought once and serviced for a decade, this is the other half of a laundry's buying: small, repeated, and only visible when it fails.
