Steam generator irons
A steam generator iron pairs a professional iron with its own small boiler, so one bench gets continuous pressurised dry steam without a plant room. This page lists the boiler-type irons and compact generators Unicorp supplies, from a 2 litre Silter Super Mini to a 4 kW Reverberi duplex that feeds two irons.

One bench, or two?
Tell us how many pressing positions run at once and whether steam is already on site. That decides between a boiler-type iron, a generator with an iron, and a central boiler.
The gap between a gravity-feed iron and a plant boiler is where most South African dry cleaners, tailors and hotel valet rooms actually work: one or two pressing positions that need proper continuous steam and have no plant room to put a boiler in. A steam generator iron fills it. The boiler is small enough to sit under or beside the bench, plugs into a normal supply, and delivers dry pressurised steam for as long as the shift lasts.
Attached or separate
Silter builds the boiler and the iron as one unit, the Super Mini, which is the simplest thing to buy and to move. Reverberi sells the generator with an iron included, the M201/7 with its M29/3 iron, or as a generator alone, the M207 duplex that feeds two irons of your choosing. Silver Star's generator is the steam source for its all-steam irons and for other irons that take external steam. Rotondi's mini steam generators and industrial irons are catalogued as a range.
What to specify
Boiler capacity sets how long the station runs between fills, unless the generator has automatic water feed, in which case it does not stop. Pressure and steam output set how the iron performs on heavy fabric. Ask about water treatment before installation: scale is what shortens the life of a small boiler, and every maker here says so.
Growing out of it
Once a third station appears, a central industrial steam boiler usually costs less to run than another compact generator. The industrial steam irons page lists the irons that connect to it.
Four ways to put steam on a bench
- Boiler-type iron
- The iron is attached to its own small boiler. Silter's Super Mini: a 2 litre inox boiler, 70 g/min of dry steam at 2.5 bar, working pressure in about 7 to 8 minutes.
- Generator supplied with an iron
- Reverberi's M201/7: a 5 litre stainless boiler with the M29/3 professional iron, double security system and solenoid valve, ready for a trolley.
- Automatic duplex generator
- Reverberi's M207 GAK3DS: 4 kW, 3 bar, automatic water feed from a tank with filter, two outlets for two irons, unlimited autonomy. Irons sold separately.
- Generator for irons you already have
- The Silver Star steam generator feeds Silver Star all-steam irons and other irons that accept external steam. Rotondi's mini steam systems are catalogued as a range below.
The manufacturers behind this range
Catalogued as a range
Some makers are listed by machine family rather than model. Each range page covers the family and what to specify.
- Rotondi steam generators and industrial irons
- The power source for everything else on the floor. Industrial generators for multi-station supply, plus gravity-feed irons and compact steam systems for smaller operations.
Answers before you enquire
- What is the difference between a steam generator iron and a gravity-feed iron?
- A gravity-feed iron takes water from a suspended bottle and turns it to steam in its own soleplate, on demand and independent of any boiler. A generator iron takes steam from a boiler under pressure, so the steam is drier and steadier and does not run short in continuous pressing.
- How long before there is steam?
- The Silter Super Mini reaches working pressure in about 7 to 8 minutes from cold and shows a Steam Ready lamp. The Reverberi M207 feeds water automatically and runs continuously once up to pressure.
- Can one generator feed two irons?
- Yes. The Reverberi M207 GAK3DS has two solenoid valves and two outlets, with automatic water feed so it does not stop to be refilled. The irons are sold separately.
- When do I need a central boiler instead?
- Roughly when the third pressing station appears, or when operators are waiting on steam. At that point a central boiler usually costs less to run than three compact units. See industrial steam boilers.
