Two primary road corridors connect Namibia to Johannesburg. The Trans-Kalahari route runs on the N14 through Vryburg to the Buitepos and Mamuno border post, reaching Windhoek in roughly two days. Freight can also travel on the N1 through Upington to the Noordoewer or Ariamsvlei crossings in the south. For heavy or bulk consignments, sea freight to Walvis Bay from Durban is the cheaper option. Namibia's road network is well maintained once the equipment is in the country.

Is sea freight ever the better option?
