Moro extraction towers are industrial roof-mounted exhaust fans designed to extract air mixed with fumes, steam, and corrosive gases from commercial and industrial buildings. Available in two specialist configurations, the MGV Series (vertical outlet roof top units in stainless steel for corrosive environments) and the MTF 260 Series (chimney draft activators for high-temperature smoke extraction), these industrial extraction fans are engineered by Moro s.r.l. in Italy for demanding applications in chemical processing, food production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, commercial laundries, dry cleaners, and any facility requiring reliable fume extraction and ventilation. Supplied by Unicorp across South Africa, Moro extraction towers are robust, weather-resistant, corrosion-resistant units for roof installation.

Moro extraction towers use centrifugal fan impellers with backward-curved (negative) blades characterised by a high ratio between blade height and external diameter, delivering efficient, reliable exhaust performance for industrial ventilation systems. The extraction towers can be mounted directly on the roof of the building for free suction, or connected to chimney flues for ducted exhaust applications. Standard models feature galvanised sheet metal construction with fibreglass protective domes to guarantee perfect protection against atmospheric agents, while stainless steel MGV Series models are engineered to withstand corrosive environments and elevated temperatures. All Moro extraction towers are equipped with anti-intrusion nets for safety and compliance. As the authorised Moro distributor for South Africa, Unicorp supplies and supports the full extraction tower range for commercial laundries, dry cleaners, industrial facilities, and specialised ventilation applications.

The MGV Series extraction towers are designed to ensure exhaust of air mixed with fumes and corrosive steam. Stainless steel manufacturing (AISI 304 or AISI 316L) ensures all metallic parts are resistant against corrosion. Equipped with safety protections, rain hoods, and gravity dampers, the MGV structure can withstand atmospheric agents and is suitable for outdoor roof installation. A heat sink installed between the motor and impeller allows fluid delivery at temperatures up to 150°C. MGV Series units are available in explosion-proof execution according to ATEX Directive 94/9/CE for hazardous area installations. Typical applications include chemical industries, food processing, pharmaceutical facilities, and any scope requiring potentially aggressive fluid discharge.

The MTF 260 Series represents the latest innovation by Moro in chimney ventilation technology. These extremely silent centrifugal fans are fitted to the top of chimney flues to guarantee perfect smoke extraction even in the most difficult weather conditions. The MTF 260 extracts smoke and undesirable fumes at very high temperatures (up to 200°C) and does not require special maintenance. Ideal for commercial boilers, industrial heating systems, and any chimney flue requiring reliable draft activation to ensure complete combustion and safe exhaust of combustion gases.

Questions

Answers before you enquire

What is the difference between the MGV Series and the MTF 260 Series?
The MGV Series are vertical outlet roof top extraction towers designed for general industrial exhaust applications involving corrosive fumes, steam, and aggressive gases. They are constructed in stainless steel and can handle temperatures up to 150°C. The MTF 260 Series are chimney draft activators specifically designed to fit on top of chimney flues to guarantee reliable smoke extraction and draft activation at temperatures up to 200°C. Choose the MGV for general roof-mounted exhaust, and the MTF 260 for chimney flue applications.
Can Moro extraction towers handle corrosive environments?
Yes. The MGV Series is specifically designed for corrosive environments and is available in full stainless steel construction using AISI 304 or AISI 316L grade stainless steel. This ensures all metallic parts are resistant to corrosion from chemical fumes, aggressive steam, and other corrosive gases. The MGV Series is ideal for chemical processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food production, and any application where corrosive exhaust is a concern.
Are Moro extraction towers available in explosion-proof versions?
Yes. The MGV Series is available in explosion-proof execution according to ATEX Directive 94/9/CE for installation in hazardous areas where explosive atmospheres may be present. Contact Unicorp for guidance on ATEX certification requirements and specification for your specific application.
What maintenance do Moro extraction towers require?
The MTF 260 Series requires no special maintenance and is designed for long-term reliable operation. The MGV Series may require periodic inspection of the heat sink, gravity dampers, and anti-intrusion nets depending on the operating environment and duty cycle. Unicorp can provide maintenance guidance and supply genuine Moro spare parts as required.
Are Moro extraction towers suitable for dry cleaners and commercial laundries?
Yes. Moro extraction towers are widely used in dry cleaning and commercial laundry operations to exhaust steam, fumes, and heat from dry cleaning machines, pressing equipment, boilers, and drying systems. The stainless steel MGV Series is particularly suited to environments where chemical fumes or moisture-laden exhaust air is present. Unicorp can advise on the correct sizing and installation for laundry and dry cleaning ventilation applications.
Can Unicorp assist with installation and sizing?
Yes. Unicorp provides technical support for sizing Moro extraction towers based on your exhaust volume, temperature, building configuration, and installation requirements. We can arrange supply, delivery, and coordinate installation across South Africa for commercial and industrial ventilation projects.
