Dry cleaning and finishing equipment for Mozambique

Maputo is under six hours from Johannesburg on the N4 and the Maputo Development Corridor, one of the busiest trade routes in the region.

Universe Corp has supplied Mozambican hotels, resorts and dry cleaners from Johannesburg since 1985. Coastal humidity shortens the life of equipment that was not specified for it, and it is cheaper to allow for that at the quote than to replace an element every season.

Who buys here

Industries we serve in Mozambique

  • Coastal tourism and resorts

Beach resorts and eco-lodges along the Inhambane, Vilankulo and Bazaruto coastline, handling high guest volumes in season. Salt air and humidity are hard on machinery, and that belongs in the specification.

  • Hotels and hospitality

Hotels in Maputo, Beira and the growing number of properties elsewhere, processing guest linen, napery and staff uniforms.

  • Dry cleaners

Maputo's dry cleaning trade, growing with the city's middle class.

  • Industry and energy

Workwear and protective clothing for the industrial and energy operations in Tete, Beira and the north.

Getting equipment there

Mozambique is directly accessible on the N4 through the Maputo Development Corridor. Equipment crosses at the Ressano Garcia and Lebombo border post, with transit to Maputo usually under six hours. Central Mozambique including Beira, Chimoio and Tete is served by the appropriate corridors, and the Port of Beira takes sea freight where that is more practical. Northern Mozambique including Pemba and Cabo Delgado is reached by a combination of the two.

Why here

Why Mozambique buys from Wynberg

  • Specified for the coast from the start

Salt air and humidity along the Inhambane and Bazaruto coastline shorten the life of equipment that was not chosen for it. Allowing for that at the quote is cheaper than replacing elements every season.

  • The Maputo corridor is genuinely fast

Under six hours from Wynberg on the N4 through Ressano Garcia. For Maputo operators that is closer than Cape Town.

  • Beira by sea when the road does not suit

Central Mozambique can be served through the Port of Beira where sea freight is more practical than a long overland leg.

Answers

Before you ask

How long to Maputo?
Usually under six hours, straight down the N4 on the Maputo Development Corridor, crossing at Ressano Garcia and Lebombo. It is one of the easiest runs we do.
What about Beira and the north?
Beira, Chimoio and Tete are served by their own corridors, and the Port of Beira takes sea freight where that is more practical than road. Pemba and the far north are usually a sea question.
Who clears it?
We handle the South African export documentation. Tell us the destination and we will set out what the import side needs.
