Thermopatch HiQ tape and Hytex are professional textile marking tapes designed for commercial laundries, uniform services, industrial linen operations, and workwear management requiring durable, wash-resistant labeling. HiQ tape is the global standard in industrial laundry marking, offering flexible, strong branded tape with perfect adhesion for thermal transfer label printers. Available in multiple variants including standard HiQ, Hytex (with self-adhesive backing), HiQ FR (flame-retardant for protective workwear), and HiQ Clean (for barrier fabrics and cleanroom applications), these marking tapes are supplied as continuous rolls or pre-cut labels in various sizes and colors. Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified and compatible with Thermopatch HiQ thermal transfer printers, these textile marking tapes are supplied in South Africa by Unicorp for professional garment identification and tracking systems.
Thermopatch HiQ tape is the industry standard for textile marking in commercial laundries and uniform services worldwide. The flexible and strong polyester cotton construction provides excellent durability while the thermoplastic adhesive delivers perfect bonding to workwear fabrics. When used with Thermopatch HiQ thermal transfer printers and HiQ ink ribbons, optimal print quality and adhesion are guaranteed. The tape withstands industrial washing at temperatures up to 95°C, maintaining label integrity and legibility throughout repeated wash cycles. HiQ tape is available in nine colors (white, yellow, orange, red, pink, blue, green, high visibility yellow, and mint green) for color-coded identification systems, and can be supplied as continuous rolls for on-demand printing or as pre-cut labels in standardized sizes. Custom pre-printing with logos or frames is available, allowing labels to function as name tags on workwear breast pockets or other garment areas.
The original HiQ tape for general workwear marking applications. Strong and flexible polyester cotton textile with thermoplastic adhesive. Thermal transfer printable top layer for crisp text and barcode printing. Wash-resistant up to 95°C industrial laundry washing. Available in nine colors and multiple widths (30mm to 90mm). Supplied as continuous tape or pre-cut labels. Ideal for uniform services, workwear rental, commercial laundries, and industrial garment tracking.
Hytex is HiQ tape with an added pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and carrier paper backing. This self-adhesive construction holds label positioning and prevents slipping during heat sealing. The label can be positioned accurately on the garment, then heat sealed for permanent bonding. Hytex is resistant to intensive washing processes as standard HiQ tape is. Available in the same sizes and colors as HiQ tape. Ideal for operations requiring precise label placement or working with difficult-to-position garment areas.

Answers before you enquire
- What is the difference between HiQ tape and Hytex?
- HiQ tape is the standard product with thermal transfer printable top layer and thermoplastic adhesive that bonds when heat sealed to fabric. Hytex is essentially HiQ tape with an added pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and carrier paper backing. This self-adhesive construction allows you to position the label accurately on the garment before heat sealing, preventing slipping during application. Hytex is particularly useful for difficult-to-position areas or when precise label placement is critical.
- When should I use HiQ FR flame-retardant tape?
- HiQ FR is required when marking protective workwear that must meet flame-retardant standards such as EN ISO 15025 and 15797. This includes workwear for oil and gas industries, chemical processing plants, utilities, firefighting, welding, and other environments where flame-resistant clothing is mandatory for worker safety. Using standard HiQ tape on flame-retardant workwear could compromise the garment’s protective properties.
- What is HiQ Clean used for?
- HiQ Clean features a specialized thermoplastic adhesive formulated to bond to barrier fabrics and synthetic materials used in cleanroom workwear. It is designed for controlled environments in microelectronics manufacturing, pharmaceutical production, nuclear facilities, and other industries requiring specialized protective clothing. HiQ Clean is not suitable for surgical garments that undergo autoclave sterilization processes.
- Can HiQ tape be pre-printed with logos or company names?
- Yes. HiQ tape can be custom pre-printed with logos, frames, or text in any color combination. This allows the tape to function as branded name tags on workwear, such as on breast pockets of uniforms. Pre-printed tape provides a professional appearance while maintaining all the durability and wash-resistance of standard HiQ products. Contact Unicorp for information on custom pre-printing options and minimum order quantities.
- How many washes can HiQ tape withstand?
- HiQ standard tape and Hytex are wash-resistant up to 95°C in industrial laundry washing and can withstand many wash cycles when properly heat sealed to appropriate fabrics. The exact number of washes depends on washing conditions, detergents used, and fabric type. HiQ Clean is rated for washing up to 60°C. When used with compatible Thermopatch HiQ ink ribbons and proper heat sealing procedures, labels remain legible and securely attached throughout the normal workwear lifecycle.
- What ink ribbon colors are available for HiQ tape?
- Black ink ribbon is supplied as standard in HiQ tape boxed sets. Additional ink ribbon colors available include red, green, and blue for custom color printing applications. When combined with the nine available tape colors, this provides extensive options for creating visually distinctive labels for different customer categories, service types, or identification purposes.
