Shirt work is counted in pieces, not tickets. A customer brings in twelve shirts, they run through wash, press and finish as twelve separate items, and they are boxed or hung as twelve again at the end. A shirt piece tag numbers each one so a collar that goes back for a second press does not lose its place in the order.
The tags use the same ClearType printing as the dry cleaning piece tags: the ink is embedded into wet-strength fibre paper, so the number survives the wash, the press and the finisher without smudging.
Standard and stripe differ in appearance only. A stripe is worth having where a plant runs shirts alongside dry cleaning and wants the two tag streams distinguishable on the rail.
