A heat seal barcode is how a garment carries an identity for longer than one visit. The label is pressed into the fabric rather than pinned to it, so it stays through repeated cleaning and lets a plant scan the same item across months of work. That is the basis of most uniform and linen rental tracking.
Size is the practical decision. The smallest label at 0.6875 by 0.25 inches hides inside a seam or under a care label; the largest at 1.25 by 0.5 inches is easier to scan and easier to find by hand, which matters when an operator is looking for it on a full rail.
Labels are applied with a heat seal press. Unicorp supplies Thermopatch presses and the HiQ label printers that print onto label stock on demand.
